The Megami Tensei subseries has held many critically acclaimed video game titles. Mostly developed by Atlus, one of the most well-known role-playing titles has been the Persona series. Following them, the Shin Megami Tensei series is not only one of the biggest franchises in the genre, but one of the most strange and cerebral as well.

Since the release of the original game in 1992, Atlus has been releasing sequels periodically and on many different consoles both at home and portable. Shin Megami Tensei IV was the most recent, releasing in 2013 and exclusively played on the Nintendo 3DS.

For about seven years, fans have been wondering if Atlus has had the time to continue the beloved series considering the recent releases and praise given to Persona 5; and if so, when the next game would even release. Well, thanks to a Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase, that question was answered with a trailer!

As soon as next year, the franchise fans have been waiting for will return with Shin Megami Tensei V! Make sure to check out the new footage below and don't forget to share your thoughts in the comments!
