Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is arguably the most highly anticipated game coming to the Nintendo Switch this year. The new entry in the popular
Smash Bros. series will be pitting some of the most iconic characters from Nintendo against each other, as well as bringing guest characters from renowned series like
Final Fantasy,
Metal Gear Solid, and
Mega Man—to name only but a few.
Since the game's announcement earlier this year, Nintendo has already shared pretty much everything there is to know about
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, including the full roster of characters that will be available at launch. The latest Nintendo Direct focused on a few new features for the game, as well as revealing 3 new characters; with Ken Masters and Incineroar joining the game at launch, and Piranha Plant as the first of 5 DLC characters that will be released throughout the year.
Now,
Super Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai has taken to Twitter to reveal that the
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate lineup for the DLC is already complete, and that the selection this time was made entirely by Nintendo. In
Super Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS, Nintendo offered players the chance to vote for their favourite characters to join the fight, and this will not be the case this time around as Nintendo is not currently asking fans for feedback.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate already features a huge roster with over 70 playable characters from various iconic video game franchises, making it the biggest crossover in video game history, so at this point asking for even more characters comes off as almost as an entitled demand and Nintendo—more specifically Sakurai—has earned the right not to listen to said demands.
Legendary game worlds and fighters collide in the ultimate showdown—a new entry in the Super Smash Bros. series for the Nintendo Switch system! New fighters, like Inkling from the Splatoon series and Ridley from the Metroid series, make their Super Smash Bros. series debut alongside every Super Smash Bros. fighter in the series…EVER!
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be available for the Nintendo Switch on the 7th of December.
