Fans of the Super Smash Bros. series have been eagerly anticipating the return of the iconic crossover fighting game pretty much since the Nintendo Switch was announced in October of 2016 but, sadly, the title was nowhere to be seen in Nintendo's lineup for 2017.

Things changed when this year Nintendo finally revealed that they were working on a new entry in the series, although we were not really given too many details other than a teaser that seemed to introduce the Inklings from Splatoon; leading many to believe the game would only be a port of Super Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS. Nothing could've been further from the truth and we were finally introduced to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, a game that definitely lives up to its name.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is bringing every single fighter that has ever been in a Super Smash Bros. title back, including guest characters from other popular series like Metal Gear Solid, Sonic the Hedgehog, Street Fighter, and even Final Fantasy; among many, many, many other popular video game characters.

It isn't just the sheer number of characters that the game will feature one of the game's main selling points, but the Nintendo Switch's versatility that allows players to play at home on their TVs or take these iconic fights on-the-go anywhere they go and challenge their friends at any time, and the latest TV spot for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate shows us exactly that: people challenging their friends anywhere, at any time.

Take a look.

Legendary game worlds and fighters collide in the ultimate showdown—a new entry in the Super Smash Bros. series for the Nintendo Switch system! New fighters, like Inkling from the Splatoon series and Ridley from the Metroid series, make their Super Smash Bros. series debut alongside every Super Smash Bros. fighter in the series…EVER!

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be available for the Nintendo Switch on the 7th of December.
