With
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate coming out in a bit over a week, the hype surrounding Nintendo's new entry in their iconic crossover fighting game is going through the roof and for good reason; the game is featuring over 70 playable characters from diverse video game franchises like
Metal Gear Solid,
Final Fantasy,
The Legend of Zelda, and even
Street Fighter.
A testament to the game's popularity is the fact that just last week,
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate became the best pre-selling title in the
Super Smash Bros. series, as well as becoming the best pre-selling title on the Nintendo Switch so far; beating out heavy hitters like
Super Mario Odysssey and
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
Today, Nintendo has released three new videos that feature characters from
Street Fighter,
Splatoon, and
Animal Crossing; all of which featuring characters that are newcomers to the Super Smash Bros. series. Ken Masters, Ryu's rival from
Street Fighter, was revealed in the last Smash Direct, while Isabelle from
Animal Crossing was introduced in the Nintendo Direct of September, and the Inklings from Splatoon were revealed in the very first teaser for
Super Smash Bros. Ultiamte; before the game had even been given an official title.
