During today's Nintendo Direct, Platinum Games took the opportunity to reveal their new intellectual property to the world; an action game called
Astral Chain, which comes out exclusively for the Nintendo Switch on the
30th of August.
Astral Chain is boasting the talents of
Devil May Cry,
Bayonetta, and
Resident Evil 2(1998) Director Hideki Kamiya — who will be supervising the project — manga artist Masakzu Katsura as the Character Designer, and Takahisa Taura — Director of Square Enix's acclaimed
NieR: Automata — as the game's Director.
While the trailer doesn't really give away too much about the game, we can immediately tell that
Astral Chain features some hack and slash elements like the ones seen in
Bayonetta and
Devil May Cry, while the overall feel of the game, as well as its setting, seems to be taking cues from Square Enix's
NieR: Automata.
Take a look:
Astral Chain is a new action game from PlatinumGames, the creators of the Bayonetta™ series. As part of a police special forces unit in a multi-cultural futuristic city, players work together with a humanoid special weapon, Legion, in a synergetic action system of battle and exploration.
Astral Chain will be available exclusively for the Nintendo Switch on the 30th of August.
