The Outer Worlds is a first-person shooter role-playing game — akin the the
Fallout video game series — developed by Obsidian Entertainment. Back in October 2019, the open-world game officially released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It was also confirmed that
The Outer Worlds would come to the Nintendo Switch in early 2020.
Last week,
it was announced exactly when The Outer Worlds would become available for the Nintendo Switch — the release date being March 6th. However, that launch date has now been made obsolete. The Outer Worlds for the Nintendo Switch has been officially delayed due to the Coronavirus.
If you've been living under a rock and don't know what the Coronavirus is; it's a disease outbreak that's been doing the rounds as of late — and terrifying just about everybody. Private Division, the publisher in charge of the upcoming Nintendo Switch port, recently provided an update on the status of Virtuos.
The team that is working on the port of
The Outer Worlds has apparently been affected by the Coronavirus and thus there office has closed down for the time being. It's said that more time was required to finish development — so the Nintendo Switch launch has been delayed indefinitely.
You can check out Private Division's tweets on the matter below (
@PrivateDivision). As you can see, a side-effect of this delay is that physical copies including a cartridge will now be available to purchase once the game launches — whenever that may be.
The Outer Worlds is out now for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC — and will release for the Nintendo Switch at some point.
