Pokemon: Winds And Waves Fans Were Not Happy With The Update At Worlds 2026

The 2026 Pokemon World Championships closing show skipped Winds and Waves entirely. The Generation 10 pair is still dated 2027 with no new trailer or window.

The 2026 Pokemon World Championships closing ceremony in San Francisco threw out a movie, a GO raid boss, Champions Z Megas, and a 2027 Worlds city. It did not throw out was any updates for Pokemon Winds and Waves.

Winds and Waves are the Generation 10 mainline games Game Freak is building for Nintendo Switch 2. They were revealed on Pokemon Day, February 27, 2026, with a 2027 release and no month attached. Worlds is usually where The Pokemon Company puts something new in front of a packed room. This year the next RPGs were not in the room.

Tsunekazu Ishihara still had a list. Pokemon: Wild Card, a theatrical movie for 2027 about a TCG player and Mimikyu, got the teaser. Armored Mewtwo is coming back to Pokemon GO five-star raids on September 5 and 6. Pokemon Champions gets Z Mega Evolutions on September 9, including Mega Lucario Z, Mega Garchomp Z, and Mega Absol Z. Worlds 2027 is going to Singapore Expo on August 13 to 15. Pokemon Unite’s competitive scene is winding down. None of that was a Winds screenshot.

There was no trailer. No gameplay. No new Pokemon from those games. No release month. Ishihara did not even give the titles a "still on track" sentence. After the show, that silence is what a lot of people walked out talking about.

A rumor that has been circulating since Pokemon Day said there would be no real Winds and Waves news between that February Direct and Pokemon Day 2027. Worlds was the biggest chance left on the 2026 calendar to kill that rumor. The company left the games off the stage instead. That does not prove the rumor. It does make Pokemon Day 2027 look like the next date people should circle for getting an update.

A Nintendo Direct has been rumored for September 10. Holiday showcases also exist. None of those slots were used at Chase Center. Companies split announcements on purpose all the time. They also skip a game at an event when they do not have footage they want shown yet.

Winds and Waves are still listed as 2027 Switch 2 RPGs from Game Freak, published by The Pokemon Company and Nintendo, with online multiplayer. Scarlet and Violet are the current generation those games follow. A June leak put the pair in September 2027. That leak has not been confirmed by Nintendo or TPC. Official materials still say 2027 and stop there.

Worlds 2026 was not an empty weekend. Wild Card is the first new Pokemon movie in seven years. Champions is getting the Z Mega kit people have been waiting on since Legends: Z-A. GO is running a Mega Finale with a six-year Mewtwo form. Singapore is locked for next August. For anyone who showed up hoping Generation 10 would move one inch, the ceremony ended the same place February did.

If the long quiet holds, the next serious look is months away. If a Direct in September actually has the games, this weekend was just a scheduling choice. Right now the public file on Winds and Waves is still the Pokemon Day reveal and a year on the box.

Are you fine waiting until Pokemon Day 2027 for Winds and Waves, or did you want to hear something at Worlds? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
