One of the many games that Nintendo announced today during the surprise Super mario 35th Anniversary Direct, was Super Mario Bros. 35, which is Nintendo's take on the Battle Royal genre, but with the original, and iconic Super Mario Bros. that released for the NES in the mid '80s.
Super Mario Bros. 35, like the name aptly suggests, will see players going through the classic levels from the original Super Mario Bros. and competing against 35 other players at the same time. In order to come out on top, players will be able to leave their opponents some obstacles.
Nintendo has seemingly taken some notes from the popular Tetris 99, where players also compete against other players in real time, and can attack their opponents by sending them extra tetrominos in order to win; same concept, only with the original Super Mario Bros. levels.
Super Mario Bros. 35, as revealed by Nintendo, is a free-to-download game that will be exclusive to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers, and that will become available on Thursday the 1st of October; there is a caveat, though.
According to the developer, Super Mario Bros. 35 will only be available for a limited time, so Nintendo Switch Online subscribers will only be able to play this game from the 1st of October until the 31st of March in 2021, which is somewhat disappointing.

Each player is given the same timed stage, but you must defeat enemies to earn extra time and attack your opponents. Don’t forget to pick up some coins on your way—they can be used to get in-game items like power-ups. With speed, skill, and strategy, you could be the last Mario standing.
Super Mario Bros. 35 will be available for the Nintendo Switch from Thursday the 1st of October until Wednesday the 31st of March, 2021.
