One of the biggest Mario titles to have come out in the early 2000s was Super Mario Sunshine for the Gamecube. Continuing the 3D platformer mechanic that was introduced in Super Mario 64, this new title was one of the first that dared to be different, integrating a water canon feature that completely changed the core gameplay entirely. This idea of new gimmicks per game would continue to be seen in other titles such as Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Odyssey.
However, Sunshine is one of the standouts due to the game taking Mario to a simple yet memorable location in the Isle of Delfino, presenting Mario as a criminal forced to clean up both the pollution on the island and his name. Since its release, fans have been practically on their knees, begging for a remaster from Nintendo, and it seems that the desire has reached a fever pitch.
Every so often, Nintendo's official Twitter account will post a picture or a tease that will allude to a potential release of the long-awaited game; however they always end up being wild goose chases. It appears that the company has done it yet again with a photo of Mario enjoying the beach and the sun.
While this is most likely a way for the company to have its title property enjoy summer, anything is possible. Do you believe it's a tease or just a fun post? Make sure to share your thoughts in the comments below!
Mario and Peach go on a vacation to Isle Delfino. But their trip soon gets spoiled after an imposter disguised as Mario paints and pollutes the entire island. Mario must clear his name, and clean up the entire island. Mario's vacation goes horribly wrong when he finds someone has polluted Isle Delfino, his destination.
There are no official announcements for Super Mario Sunshine as of yet.
