"Everyone is Here!" was the phrase that got pretty much every fan of Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. series overly excited for the latest entry in the series; one that has also become the most ambitious, as well as one of Nintendo's most ambitious projects.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate quite literally features every character that has ever shown up in the previous games. As if that wasn't enough, the game's Fighters Pass has been adding new characters; with Nintendo recently revealing that even more characters will be added in the future.

Series creator Masahiro Sakurai recently revealed, in his regular column on Japanese website Famitsu, that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is, quite literally, the ultimate collaboration title and that it is very unlikely that future entries in the series manage to deliver something as ambitious.

"While managing the team for DLC is much easier than the base game, there are still a lot of things to check,”Sakurai wrote while also adding that "By having every veteran fighter, and by having a number of collaborations with various games in Spirits mode and countless songs, Smash Ultimate is the ultimate collaboration title. This kind of game is definitely unprecedented."

Ultimately, Sakurai writes about the chances of such an ambitious roster ever being featured in another Super Smash Bros. game is to be made, saying that it is very unlikely.

"If Smash Bros. continues in the future, then there’s no way this many fighters and series can be represented again. There are still requests from all over the world for new fighters in Smash."

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is, without a doubt, the most ambitious fighting game ever created, and the fact that it features as many characters as it does is only a testament to Masahiro Sakurai's commitment to the iconic series. While a roster as big as this one may seem unlikely in the future, the fact that it already exists is already unbelievable.

Legendary game worlds and fighters collide in the ultimate showdown—a new entry in the Super Smash Bros. series for the Nintendo Switch system! New fighters, like Inkling from the Splatoon series and Ridley from the Metroid series, make their Super Smash Bros. series debut alongside every Super Smash Bros. fighter in the series…EVER!

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is currently available exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
