A recent entry posted on The Pokémon Company's official website has revealed that the highly anticipated
Pokémon Sword and
Pokémon Shield will feature music from
Undertale creator Toby Fox.
According to Fox himself, it all happened because a bunch of developers at Game Freak — the studio that develops
Pokémon games — had liked what he had done with Undertale, but it wasn't until he messaged
Pokémon Sword and
Pokémon Shield Composer Go Ichinose that this opportunity to compose for the game came to fruition.
"
Once upon a time, I created an RPG game called UNDERTALE. For one reason or another, it seems a lot of people from GAME FREAK ended up becoming fans of this game," writes Toby Fox on his blog entry.
"One day, I noticed Go Ichinose-san, one of the composers for Pokémon, was following me on Twitter, so... I messaged him out of the blue. Eventually, we became friends and I was able to meet many other people from GAME FREAK, too! After eating sukiyaki with members of the company one day, we went to a cafe. There, I ordered a bottled green tea and selfishly, randomly asked if I could make a song for Pokémon someday..."
The people over at Game Freak said yes, and Fox went on to compose just the one song for Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, and today The Official Pokémon YouTube channel has released Fox's song for everyone to listen, so be sure to check it out down below.
Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield will be set in Galar, an expansive region with many environments—idyllic countryside, contemporary cities, thick forests, and craggy, snow-covered mountains. The people and Pokémon live together in this region, and they’ve worked together to develop the industries here.
Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield will be available for the Nintendo Switch on the 15th of November.
