Crystal Crisis is a tile-matching fighting puzzle game(it is quite the mouthful), developed by Nicalis, that will be coming to the Nintendo Switch. The game features a roster with characters from franchises like Cave Story, The Binding of Isaac, and even from Japanese animation studio Tezuka Productions.

With the announcement that Capcom had shut down Puzzle Fighter, a few weeks ago, Crystal Crisis could not have come at a better time as it seems to bring back all the elements that Capcom's short-lived puzzle fighting game had.

Today Nintendo have released an official announcement trailer for Crystal Crisis and it looks simply charming. For anyone not familiar with the genre, tile-matching fighters follow the simple premise of fighting, and pulling off special attacks, by matching tiles with falling gems. As players match the colours, they inflict more damage to the opponent.

The game will feature 19 playable characters including Isaac(The Binding of Isaac), Solange(Code Princess EX), Quote and Curly Brace(Cave Story), and even Black Jack, and Atom(also known as Astro Boy) from Tezuka Productions, plus many more.

Crystal Crisis will also include multiple single-player modes that include Arcade, Survival Mode, Tag Team, and Training Mode, as well as local and online multiplayer options. As an interesting fact, the game is also including a "Colourblind Mode" to help people with this condition distinguish the gems.

An all-star cast of heroes has gathered to test their mettle in this cute and chaotic new color-matching combat game for Nintendo Switch. Crystal Crisis is presented like a one-on-one fighting game, but instead of pressing buttons to kick and punch, players arrange falling gems into matching colors to clear them from the screen and inflict damage on their opponents. It’s the ultimate puzzle battle throw down!

Crystal Crisis will be available for the Nintendo Switch this Fall.
