Space Harrier is an arcade rail shooter game developed and published by Sega, and released in 1985. Set in a surreal, and colourful world, players take control of Harrier as they fight their way through 18 distinct stages with the help of their underarm jet-propelled laser. If that isn't 80s goodness, I don't know what is.
Upon release,
Space Harrier got a lot of praise due to its fast-paced action, innovative graphics at the time, gameplay, audio and brilliant soundtrack, all for good reason. The game's soundtrack is a love letter to the 80s sci fi genre, even at the time of its release.
Which is why the game is now getting a remaster on vinyl thanks to DATA DISCS, who have been releasing video game soundtracks in vinyl. They are also partnered with video game companies such as Capcom, Konami, SNK, and Sega.
The
Space Harrier Sountrack, by DATA DISCS, will include all the classics theme from the arcade game as composed by Hiroshi Kawaguchi, also known for composing some other classic video game soundtracks like Sega's very own
After Burner and
OutRun.
The remaster includes all 12 songs from
Space Harrier, as well as a bonus arranged version of the game's main theme performed by Sega's in-house live band(S.S.T. Band) plus some notes written by Hiroshi Kawaguchi himself and a lithographic print of the original artwork from the Japanese archives.

Please be aware the green and black editions both have regular (non-lenticular) covers and are priced as normal. And yes, lenticular panels are very expensive.
