For those who may not be familiar with
Ninja Gaiden, it is basically a series that saw its humble beginning when the first entry was released for arcades in the late 80s; chances are, however, that most people know the 8-bit counterpart that released for the Nintendo Entertainment System.
The
Ninja Gaiden series was revived in 2004, and has had quite a fair share of titles being released for the Xbox, PlayStation 3, Nintendo DS, and even the Nintendo Wii U; quality of these titles — or fan reception, rather — has been somewhat mixed, but fans agree that they would love for Team Ninja to develop a new game.
During an interview with IGN,
Nioh 2 Director Fumihiko Yasuda revealed that Team Ninja is well-aware that fans have been clamouring for a new entry in the
Ninja Gaiden series; revealing, even, that the developers themselves want to make a new
Ninja Gaiden.
"
The core members of the team that worked on Ninja Gaiden want to make a new game. We are aware that some fans wanted Ninja Gaiden more than Nioh 2," explained Yasuda while also adding that they have some pretty good ideas they've seen working on other Triple A developers, as he continues by stating that they now "
see a lot of ninja games like [Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice] as well, and we see a lot of good inspirations in those games, so we hope to deliver some good news one day."
While this doesn't necessarily mean that a new
Ninja Gaiden game is currently in the works, it does give players hope that the developers have not only listened to fans, but are willing to make a new game that will likely borrow some of the best ideas from other successful series. Fingers crossed.
