PlatinumGames has quietly removed some of the projects they had worked on in the past from their website. Such titles include Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan and Transformers: Devastation, amongst others, as well as the presumably cancelled Project G.G. from director Hideki Kamiya.
Per an archived version of their website, PlatinumGames listed 22 titles as part of their previous projects. The current lineup includes Bayonetta, Bayonetta 2, Bayonetta 3, Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon, NieR: Automata, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, Vanquish, Astral Chain, and The Wonderful 101: Remastered, as well as the recently announced Ninja Gaiden 4.
Gone from the lineup are Hideki Kamiya's presumably cancelled Project G.G., Sol Cresta, Neo-Classic Arcade Series, World of Demons, Babylon's Fall, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan, Star Fox Zero, Transformers: Devastation, The Legend of Korra, Anarchy Reigns, Madworld, Infinite Space, The Wonderful One: After School Hero.
Responding to the news about PlatinumGames' decision to remove a handful of their past projects from their website, former PlatinumGames producer Jean Pierre Kellams took to social media to express his disappointment with the studio's actions, labeling the decision as "extremely regrettable."
"I have no idea why they did it," prefaced Kellams, before he condemned, "But [PlatinumGames] erasing its history on its website is extremely regrettable. I wonder if the pulled the carpet tiles out of the lobby, too. As someone proud of working on those games, I feel deeply insulted by this."
In a follow-up post, Kellams declared, "Someone who recently left said 'I'm still rooting for them.' But stuff like this makes that very hard to do. So to whatever localization person is handling the website/PG twitter account, listen to the guy who set both of those things up and maybe reconsider erasing PG's legacy."
While not much had been shared about Project G.G. since it's official announcement in February of 2020, the state of the project had been in question following Kamiya's departure from PlatinumGames in September of 2023.
At the time, the director — who was a co-founder and served as the studio's Vice-President —addressed the news on social media, writing, "As announced on the official PlatinumGames X account, I will be leaving PlatinumGames on October 12, 2023."
"This came after a lot of consideration based on my own beliefs. and was by no means an easy decision to make," he went on, adding, "However, I feel this outcome is for the best. I will continue to create in my Hideki Kamiya way. I hope you'll keep your eyes peeled."
The current state of Project G.G. is unknown, but it is safe to assume that if Kamiya's endeavor ever materializes, it won't be happening under PlatinumGames' umbrella.
