We have some potentially good news for fans of Nintendo's Golden Sun series, since Cory Barlog — who most people know as one of the co-creators of the God of War series, as well as the director of the critically aclaimed God of War(2018) — has recently revealed that he's more than willing to help Nintendo develop a new Golden Sun.
The news actually comes from Barlog himself, who replied to a question on Twitter that asked which Nintendo series they would like to revive with the condition that another popular Nintendo franchise had to be sacrificed in its stead ; these series being Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, Kirby, Splatoon, Xenoblade Chronicles, Fire Emblem, Super Smash Bros., or Pokémon.
What's even more interesting is the fact that the God of War series creator channels his inner Kratos and reveals that his body" is ready for a modern Golden Sun game," taking it one step further and saying that this game could well-be "built on the still smouldering ashes of literally every one of these franchises."
Barlog is also quick to mention that he loves all those franchises very much; "just not as much as Golden Sun," giving millions of fans of the Golden Sun series more hope than Nintendo has ever given them, as he ends his tweet by telling Nintendo that they could "have my sword, and my box, and my axe" if they ever decide to make a new Golden Sun.
Of course, this is only Barlog's reply to a question on Twitter, so we obviously shouldn't take this as a certainty. That said, to see someone like Cory Barlog showing such passion for a series like Golden Sun is exactly the kind of push Nintendo needs to desperately see. The ball's now on Nintendo's court, so they better play, and they better play soon.
