Nintendo has recently announced that they will be giving players the chance to play Motion Twin's critically acclaimed Dead Cells for free next week — although the caveat is that this offer is only available for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers in Japan, and it is also confirmed to be for a limited time.
Japanese Nintendo Switch Online subscribers will get the chance to play, completely free of charge, Dead Cells from the 24th of February at 12:00PM JST until the 1st of March at 6:00 PM JST. Information also reveals that the game will be getting a 30% discount — going from ¥2,580 to ¥1,736.
Nintendo has also revealed that any progress that players make in Dead Cells, during the week the game is free for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers, will be carried over to the full game if they decide to purchase it.
We still don't know if neither Motion Twin nor Nintendo plan on doing the same here in the West, but it is definitely a great way for players who are still on the fence about the game, to try out Dead Cells and see if it is something they would like to purchase. Hopefully Nintendo will begin doing things like this here in the West as well.

You grew up with the roguelikes, witnessed the rise of the roguelites and even the birth of the roguelite-lites? We'd now like to present for your consideration our RogueVania, the illegitimate child of a modern Roguelite (Rogue Legacy, Binding of Isaac, Enter the Gungeon, Spelunky, etc.) and an old-school MetroidVania (Castlevania: SotN and its ilk).
Dead Cells is currently available for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Steam.
