Nintendo fans were ecstatic when the developer announced that
Metroid Prime 4 was in development, although most were doubting if the game would be anything like the previous titles in the
Metroid Prime series — as Retro Studios, the ones who developed all three previous entries, were confirmed not to be developing this new game.
Metroid Prime 4 was announced during the E3 back in 2017, and a year later fans were still hoping to see more about the long-awaited title. Sadly, Nintendo officially announced that the game was being delayed indefinitely; as they went back to the drawing board.
The good news was that Nintendo also announced that Retro Studios was coming back to take over the project, which meant the series would remain consistent in terms of quality and overall feel; something that fans were obviously excited to find out.
Metroid Prime 4 was nowhere to be seen during this year's E3 — which, to be quite honest, is something that was to be expected — and just today Retro Studios has shared a new post on their Twitter account; letting people know that they are currently looking for an Art Director for
Metroid Prime 4.
The fact that Retro Studios are just now looking for an Art Director means that fans won't be seeing
Metroid Prime 4 for a long time. While this is some bittersweet news, it is at least reassuring to know that the project is moving forward; we'll just have to keep waiting.
Metroid Prime 4 still doesn't have an official release date.
