Sensor Tower, a website dedicated to studying the mobile app market, reported that consumers have spent $34.4 Billion on mobile apps, with a majority spent on games, through the first half of 2018, which is roughly 27.8% compared to last year at this time.
Apple's iOS App Store equates up to $22.6 Billion, while the remaining $11.8 Billion left to Google's Google Play, with the difference being the laters lack of presence in China. Of the revenue increase, a huge chunk of it can be applied to gaming apps, which increased by approximately 19% from the first half of 2017, from $22.4 Billion, to $26.6 Billion. The top 3 grossing games of 2018 so far were Honor of Kings from Tencent, Monster Strike from Mixi, and Fate/Grand Order from Sony.
Game downloads also went up a bit, totaling over 19.5 Billion downloads between the two mobile developer rivals, with the top 3 downloaded games being
PUBG Mobile from Tencent,
Helix Jump from Voodoo, and
Subway Surfers from Killoo.
