First things first, yes; you read that headline right. Huawei has introduced their brand new Mate 20 X phone which, according to them, can not only rival Nintendo's highly popular handheld hybrid console, but become a proper competitor within the gaming industry as a whole.
The Huawei Mate 20 X will feature a 7.2 inch OLED display with a resolution of 2,244x1080 which, in all fairness, is a proper quality screen. The Nintendo Switch has a 6.2 inch LCD screen with a 1280x720 resolution, but specs isn't all that matters in order to offer the consumer a proper gaming console; like Nintendo has already proven with the Nintendo Switch.
Huawei is also bringing a "perfectly-matched" gamepad for the consumer's mobile gaming needs that users can simply plug and play. And this is where things get interesting since the Chinese company decided to compare the Mate 20 X to the Nintendo Switch, stating that their new phone can offer over 6 hours of gameplay while the Nintendo console can barely make it to 3 and a half hours.
While the battery life claim may be somewhat true(varying greatly depending on the Switch's settings and the kind of game being played), Huawei is calling their device the "best mobile gaming machine". Let's not forget that this is a phone, so everything available on the Google Play store will be available for the Mate 20 X, including the games that make this the best mobile gaming machine. Let's completely forget about all the Nintendo Switch exclusives from first and third party developers, it's not like those will make a difference.
The cherry on top, however, is that the Huawei Mate 20 X will cost a measly $1,450 USD. The Nintendo Switch costs only $299,99. For comparison's sake, a PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X each retail for $500 approximately. For the price of one Huawei Mate 20 X one single consumer can buy a Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 Pro, and Xbox One X and still have some money left to spare on games. Nice try, Huawei.
