Rumors of the Wii successor have flooded the web over the last month. Including such things as an HD console, controllers including 6" touch screens, there's been a lot to go through, but nothing official from Nintendo. That is, until yesterday.
In a note attached to its most recent financial report, Nintendo confirmed that a "successor" to the Wii is indeed on its way and that it will be launched sometime next year (2012). It also reported that the new console would be on display at this year's E3 convention in June.
Although the confirmation is good news for gamers, Nintendo posted a 66% drop in net income for the year, ending March 31. With revenue dropping, plus slightly lower numbers than expected for the 3DS, things are looking a little gloomy for Nintendo.
