Perfect Dark is a series of first-person shooter/action-adventure games that saw its humble beginnings in the early 2000s. The first game in the series was released for the Nintendo 64, and it also got a prequel that released for the Game Boy on the same year.
After Rare was bought out by Microsoft, the series was revived with Perfect Dark Zero in 2005, but that's actually the last time a new entry ws released. In 2010 Microsoft and 4J Studios teamed up to release a remastered edition of the original game; other than that, the series has been somewhat neglected.
It seems that Microsoft is finally willing to do something with the series, as new evidence seems to suggest that a new entry in the Perfect Dark series could be currently in the works, and the studio behind the game's development would be The Initiative.
Before we move on, we need to provide a little bit of context. The Initiative was revealed, all the way back in 2018, to be working on a project that is expected to release for the Xbox. While no more information about this unannounced project has been revealed yet, it is safe to say that it will be releasing for the Xbox Series X too.
New information, that actually comes in the form of resume from a former employee at The Initiative, has revealed that studio's unannounced project will be featuring gadgets, camera surveillance systems, weaponry, hazards, destructible objects, and triggers — while also revealing that this new game would be running on Unreal Engine 4.
This definitely sounds like it could be a new Perfect Dark title, but it could also be any other type of game. Perfect Dark has been rumoured to be making a comeback, but we will have to keep waiting for an official announcement; again, The Initiative's unannounced game could be any game, but it would definitely be nice if it was a new Perfect Dark; a series screaming for a revival.
