Earlier this week we reported that Nintendo was considering releasing remastered versions of some of the 3D titles in the Super Mario Bros. series. These titles included Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and both entries in the critically acclaimed Super Mario Galaxy series.
While these were only rumours, a lot of sources have been backing this information up, leading players to believe that Nintendo is indeed bringing all of these titles to the Nintendo Switch, especially because these are rumoured to release for the character's 35th anniversayr this year.
It isn't just the 3D games that are being re-released, as rumour also has it that Nintendo could be working on either a remastered version of the original Paper Mario, or a completely new game tht brings the series back to its role-playing roots; basically, a Paper Mario game similar to the games on the Nintendo 64 and GameCube — which is great news, if true.
The rumours don't seem to end there, as new information seems to reveal that Nintendo may be considering doing something even more unexpected: bring back the infamous CDi game, as well as the educational titles that released for the Super Nintendo; namely the SNES' Mario's Time Machine and Mario Is Missing, and the CDi's Hotel Mario.
That's right, the rumour does reveal that Nintendo could be wanting to bring back these games. At least that's what one of the sources told Nintendo Life.
According to the source, "Nintendo has realised that consistently providing quality Mario games has led to the series becoming a little stale and tired. So, it has decided to unearth hidden gems from Mario's past to balance things out and liven things up. Those old enough to recall these 'games' will be thrilled by the immersive educational entertainment while younger players will marvel at an alternate Mario history that might have been."
If there's one thing that Nintendo is characterised by is its spontaneity and pulling off stuff that no one ever could've seen coming. While these rumours do sound like they could be made up, this also sounds like something Nintendo would do. At this point, it's best to keep an open mind and be surprised by whatever it is that Nintendo will unveil for Mario's 35th anniversary. We just can't wait to see what it is; whatever it may be.
