The latest rumour doing the rounds is a juicy one, as it claims that Insomniac Games' next big title to release for the PlayStation 4 is not the sequel to the critically acclaimed
Marvel's Spider-Man, but a brand-new entry in their long-running, and recently rebooted
Ratchet & Clank series.
According to former video game journalist Colin Moriarty, during an episode of
Sacred Symbols+: Episode XVII: The Waiting Game, this new
Ratchet & Clank title is actually being developed for the PlayStation 5, and will likely be a launch title; also revealing that this game has been in development for quite some time at Insomniac Games.
"
We're going to get a Ratchet and Clank in-between that [Marvel's Spider-Man and its sequel] on PlayStation 5. I feel like that's going to be a launch game, the Ratchet and Clank game that's long been in development at Insomniac," recently revealed Moriarty.
If the rumour was to be believed, it is very likely that Insomniac Games is simultaneously working on both the new
Ratchet & Clank PlayStation 5 launch title and the sequel to
Marvel's Spider-Man. This also agrees with video game journalist Imran Khan's sayings, during December's
Kinda Funny Gamecast, who revealed that
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is releasing sooner than we think.
After Insomniac Games was acquired by Sony Interactive Entertainment, it is only natural to see the developer working on more than one project for the PlayStation 5, and getting a new
Ratchet & Clank title, and the sequel to
Marvel's Spider-Man is already great news for fans of both franchises. Even if the rumours aren't true, there is no way neither of these games aren't currently in development any way; it's a win-win situation.
