Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is a popular series of comicbooks created by Bryan Lee O'Malley. The series was eventually turned into a movie that was directed by English director Edgar Wright, and an action-packed beat 'em up video game developed by Ubisoft's Chengdu studios.
The video game was actually more based on the comicbook than the movie, but both were released around the same time, with the game releasing on the 10th of August in 2010 and the movie releasing a day later; perhaps each piggybacking off each other's popularity, or the fact that both were simply phenomenal.
Here's where things get complicated, since the Scott Pilgrim vs. The World video game was only released in digital form, and the was pulled from the PlayStation Store and Xbox Live Arcade in 2014; meaning that right now there is absolutely no way to play it.
This also applies to people who had previously purchased the game but, for whatever reason, decided to uninstall it, since the game cannot even be downloaded again by those who have already purchased Scott Pilgrim vs. The World — which is probably the biggest offender here.
In May of this year, and in response to a comment made by Scott Pilgrim vs. The World creator Bryan Lee O'Malley, Ubisoft pondered whether to bring back the video game or not; no, seriously, that's all they did, as they replied with the pondering emoji and nothing more.
Whatever the case, that was enough to make fans of the popular beat 'em up excited. unfortunately for them, no news about this have been shared by neither Ubisoft nor O'Malley himself, although there may be a glimmer of hope in the horizon.
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World movie director Edgar Wright has replied to a tweet made by Inverse writer Eric Francisco, where he asked if the movie's soundtrack was being re-released for its 10th anniversary, which could lead to the game being re-released, to what Wright simply replied with a "Not that, but we're working on the video game situation," giving fans some hope.
Wright's reply doesn't specifically imply that the soundtrack being re-released means that the Scott Pilgrim vs. The World video game is also being brought back, but the fact that they are trying to do something about it is definitely some great news.
