In the same vein of Nintendo's
NES Classic and
SNES Classic consoles, Sega has officially announced the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive Mini, which will also make players feel like they're back in 16-Bit era from the early 90s.
The Sega Genesis/ Mega Drive Mini will retail for $79.99, and it will be including 40 of the console's most iconic titles — including such classics like Konami's
Castlevania Bloodlines,
Space Harrier II, and the mandatory original
Sonic the Hedgehog title.
What is, perhaps, the best news regarding this announcement, is the fact that the emulation will no be done by AtGames — who fans have complained about in the past due to a plethora of issues in the previous attempts at a Sega Genesis classic console, including poor emulation.
Right out of the box, the console will be including all of the esentials, such as the Genesis/Mega Drive Mini console, 2 wired controllers, a USB Power Adapter, the console's Power Cable, and an HDMI Cable.
With the announcement, Sega also revealed the first 10 games that will be pre-loaded with the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive Mini; promising that they will be revealing the remaining 30 before the console's release in September. So far, the list reads as follows:
Altered Beast,
Castlevania Bloodlines,
Comix Zone,
Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine,
Ecco the Dolphin,
Gunstar Heroes,
Shining Force,
Sonic the Hedgehog,
Space Harrier II, and
Toe Jam & Earl.
The Sega Genesis/Mega Drive Mini will become available on the 19th of September.
