Dotemu, Guard Crush, and Lizardcube are the developers behind the critically praised, and recently released Streets of Rage 4; managing to gracefully breathe new life into a series that many thought to be dead.
Streets of Rage 4 may be the most recent game this team of developers has released, but it isn't their first rodeo — since they also developed a remaster of Sega's Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap; one that was also critically praised upon its release.
During a recent Ask Me Anything on Reddit, the Streets of Rage 4 developers answered some questions by players, and as it turns out, they are currently working on new projects right now.
One Reddit user asked the developers whether Streets of Rage 4 was a one-off, or whether they had discussed to make even more Streets of Rage titles. Dotemu's Cyrille Imbert said that they haven't discussed it yet, but they have plans to add new content to the game.
This is where things get interesting, as Imbert also reveals that they[Dotemu] "are currently working on three unannounced similar projects," encouraging players to stay tuned to future announcements.
Imbert didn't reveal any more details about these three unannounced projects, so we don't know if he means other series revivals in the same vein of Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap and Streets of Rage 4, other beat 'em up series, or perhaps a brand-new intellectual property.
Considering how great Dotemu, Guard Crush, and Lizardcube's latest projects have been, this is definitely some exciting news and we can't wait for them to reveal what these three mysterious projects are.
Featuring hand-drawn visuals from the team behind 2017’s gorgeous Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap remake, Streets of Rage 4 builds upon the classic trilogy’s gameplay with new mechanics, a fresh story and a gauntlet of dangerous stages with a serious crime problem.
Streets of Rage 4 is currently available for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC(Steam).
