Sonic Mania Adventures is a mini series that features characters from the
Sonic universe that harkens back to the classic games, as well as the classic TV shows from the 90s. These mini episodes are short in length, beautifully animated, and completely silent, which really brings out the character animation, especially their facial expressions.
While the mini series is obviously based off the
Sonic Mania game, it also brings memories back from the first three sonic games released for the Sega Megadrive(Genesis) during the 16-Bit era—which was also the game's intention and its reason to be.
In this third episode of
Sonic Mania Adventures we get to see
Ray The Flying Squirrel and a "Missing" photo of
Mighty The Armadillo—which Sega has no problem saying it is a shameless plug as per the video's description. What's funny is that both Ray and Mighty have been missing since 1993 to the point that it almost became a running joke in the franchise as, for example, there were "Missing" posters with pictures of them hanging in the
City Escape level from
Sonic Generations.
Earlier this year Sega announced that
Sonic Mania Plus was going to be coming for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One and would include a physical copy of the game(which is only available in digital form), an art book, and some other items. What
Sonic Mania Plus is also including is
Ray the Flying Squirrel and
Mighty The Armadillo as playable characters, which makes this 3rd episode of
Sonic Mania Adventures particularly funny since it is a great way to promote the game without actually promoting it.
It is worth mentioning that players who already own
Sonic Mania will get the
Plus DLC content for free when it releases on the
17th of July.
Check out the game’s new features, a first look at Mighty and Ray, and treat your ears to a special remix of “Time Trials” by Hyper Potions and Jun Senoue!
Sonic Mania Plus will be available for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and PC on the 17th of July.
