Square Enix had a failry lackluster presentation at this year's E3. Opting out of the traditional formula and going with the Nintendo approach and streamed their presentation instead. While it seemed like a stream presentation would be better for Square Enix, it only cemented the fact that they really didn't have much new to show.
The Quiet Man, though, is one of the highlights of Square Enix's presentation—but for all the wrong reasons. The game was announced with a teaser trailer that starts off with a live action scene of a delivery man walking down the street and running into some gang members that threaten him, then it shifts into gameplay and that's pretty much all we got plus the name of the game and the fact that the protagonist is deaf—and probably mute, as well. And that trailer just didn't bode well with the gaming community in general. The game sure looks intriguing, but other than that, we weren't given much else to take away from the teaser.
Today, we got new information about the main concept of
The Quiet Man by the game's game producer Kensei Fujinaga. The Producer Letter shared on the official Twitter account for the game mentions that Fujinaga believes that humans are capable of connections that transcends words—while also saying that "
words are as precious as they are valuable".
"
In a world that overflows with cascades of words taken for granted, I can't help but it's often difficult to realise such connections exists", said Fujinaga. This is actually very interesting since the game seems to want players to experience what is like to show this mute character interacting with his environment in different ways by using other types of languages.
"
What if somehow, we were able to understand one another through connections formed heart to heart, soul to soul, and could once again look into one another's eyes and form a bond so pure?", reads the letter as Fujinaga explains that this is the concept that lies at the very core of
The Quiet Man.
Even if the teaser trailer for
The Quiet Man may have been received poorly by the community, there is no doubt that the game's cocnept sounds more interesting than the teaser shown at the presentation was, and we cannot wait for more dewtails about the game to be revealed in the coming months.
