A couple of weeks ago,
NPD Group analyst Matt Piscatella revealed a list of the Best-Selling titles for each gaming console since 1995 until 1999, which surprisingly showed that some of those titles have now become household names that have released several sequels since.
While doing some more research, Piscatella began studying sales for console exclusives since 1995 all the way until September of this year; and it is fascinating to see that every single title in this Top 10 are actually Nintendo titles—more in particular Nintendo Wii titles.
Besides including the 10 best-selling console exclusive titles since 1995 until September of this year, this Top 10 only includes physical copies of the titles listed; all of which are ranked on dollar sales, and the list reads as follows:
1.-Wii Fit
2.-Wii Play
3.-Wii Mario Kart Wii
4.-Wii Fit Plus
5.-Wii New Super Mario Bros. Wii
6.-NDS New Super Mario Bros. DS
7.-NDS Mario Kart DS
8.-N64 Super Mario 64
9.-Wii Super Smash Bros. Brawl
10.-Wii Sports Resort
Being the Nintendo Wii one of the most popular Nintendo consoles ever made, it only makes sense that most of the titles on this list belong to that console. Super Mario 64 makes the Top 10 as the only Nintendo 64 title on the list, and why shouldn't it? After all, it is the game that is widely considered to have changed 3D gaming forever.
Interestingly enough, although only two games on the Nintendo DS made the list, the Nintendo DS is Nintendo's best-selling console of all time; ranked number 2 as the most popular console in history next to the Sony PlayStation 2—which sits comfortably at the number 1 position. Another interesting fact is that this Top 10 only lists Nintendo titles, even when the study didn't just consider titles from The Big N. It goes to show that most people do prefer Nintendo for their exclusives, even when their consoles—from a technical standpoint—are usually overpowered by their competitors.
