Goddess of Victory: Nikke is celebrating four years with a lot more than a new banner. SHIFT UP's shooter is getting an official manga starring the Goddess squad, and the global fourth anniversary update lands this week with a new version of one of that squad's most popular members.
The manga was announced on Saturday during the game's fourth anniversary livestream in Japan. Kadokawa's Dengeki Maoh magazine will begin serializing it this winter, and the official game account confirmed the story will focus on the Goddess squad. Take a look at the official post down below:
Scarlet: Goddeath Leads The Anniversary Update
The fourth anniversary update for the global version arrives on October 29. Maintenance is scheduled to run from midnight to 7:00 AM (UTC+9), so players in North America will see the servers go down on the evening of October 28 local time.
The headline unit is Scarlet: Goddeath, a new version of Scarlet who is listed as a Pilgrim from the Goddess squad and wields an assault rifle. Scarlet has been a fan favorite since launch, and giving her a new form at the same moment Kadokawa reveals a Goddess squad manga feels deliberate. The anniversary is pushing the squad's story front and center across the whole franchise.
Level Infinite has been counting down to the event on the global account, and more details about the update's story chapters, events, and rewards are expected once maintenance wraps.
What The Goddess Squad Manga Covers
The Goddess squad is the legendary unit that fought against the Rapture in the early days of the war, before humanity retreated underground to the Ark. Members like Lilith, Snow White, Rapunzel, Scarlet, Dorothy, Harran, and Red Hood show up throughout the game's main story, but much of their past is only told in pieces.
The official Nikke account says the manga will depict the past of the girls who bore the name "Goddess," a history the people of the Ark could never have known about. For players who have spent four years piecing together the squad's history from side stories and flashbacks, that is a big promise.
The art comes from Yokoshima Penguin, who drew a story for the Goddess of Victory: Nikke Dengeki Comic Anthology that is collected in its second volume. The Dengeki Maoh editorial team called the upcoming series a deeply heavy story and pointed to the artist's detailed style. Here is the magazine's announcement:
Four Years Of Nikke
Goddess of Victory: Nikke launched globally on iOS and Android on November 4, 2022, with Level Infinite publishing. The PC version arrived in February 2023 with cross-play, and the game has stayed one of the biggest gacha titles in the world since.
Players take the role of a Commander leading android soldiers called Nikke on missions to retake the surface from the Rapture, an alien race that drove humanity underground. The game combines cover-based third-person shooting with team building, and its story has earned a reputation for going to some very dark places.
Collaborations have been a big part of its success, with crossovers featuring Chainsaw Man, NieR: Automata, Re:ZERO, and Evangelion. A-1 Pictures also produced an animated special called Old Tales in 2024. With a new manga on the way, the franchise keeps finding ways to tell its story outside the game.
No English release for the manga has been confirmed yet.
