Fans of the
Mana series were ecstatic to find out that Square Enix was finally bringing
Seiken Densetsu 3 — or
Trials of Mana, as the developer has officially named the game outside of Japan — to the West for players to enjoy at their leisure.
Trials of Mana was announced during last year's E3, and just last month Square Enix revealed that the remastered version of the classic role-playing title will finally be releasing for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Steam on the
24th of April.
While fans of the series can easily tell you what exactly is it that they love about the Mana series, the developers themselves may have a different opinion of what they believe is what makes the series special to them, and the latest video released by Square Enix gives us exactly that.
According to Mana series producer Masaru Oyamada, what he believes makes the series special is the fact that most JRPGs tend to use a Western, medieval fantasy setting, but the Mana series is one of the few that fully embraces the Japanese image of fantasy with some Polynesian and Asian music; making it stand out from other series in the genre.
