With rumors of PS4 games being under development, it's only natural for there to also be new rumors regarding the Xbox 360 successor.
There was an Xbox 720 logo spotted earlier this month in the robot slug-fest Real Steel (image below). Now we have reports from
Develop that the Xbox 720 will hit retailers in 2013.
According to the report, multiple sources across the industry, including processor chip manufacturers and middleware firms, expect Microsoft to unveil the console at E3 2013, and release the console to retailers within months of the unveiling.
The report also claims that Lionhead Studios is already working on a new Fable game for the console ("Fable Next") and even claims that an Electronic Arts studio already has access to Xbox 720 technology.
With the marketing engine that is Microsoft, it's a little hard to believe that they would unveil the next Xbox console mere months before releasing it to retailers. It also goes against earlier reports that the Xbox 720 may be unveiled at E3 2012.
Much like the earlier "PS4 game development" report by the same outlet, this should be taken with a grain of salt, but it's interesting none the less.
