P.T. was a truly genius piece of marketing, a terrifying and psychological immersive experience cleverly disguised as a teaser trailer for a new
Silent Hill game starring Norman Reedus. Fans were beyond excited for the newest installment in the series produced by a dream team of Hideo Kojima and Guillermo Del Toro. However, their hopes were dashed following the fallout between Kojima and Konami resulting in the cancelation of the project. Fans have always wondered what could have been and now a new fan-made project answers the call and offers a return to the horror.
The new project is called
Corridors and has been built from the ground up in Unreal Engine 4, creator SmoggyChips hopes to recapture the tension and twisted horror that made the original so memorable.
Corridors is in the very early stages of production, however, a prototype build is available to download right now. This version of the game does contain a lot of bugs, SmoggyChips has confirmed that he will be implementing a number of fixes to ensure the game plays smoothly. The developer also announced that new levels will be added to the game along the way. You can download the early access build of Corridors
here.
Redditor LinusPixel is also working on their own homage to the influential title. The currently untitled project is comprised of animation, map and texture files which have been taken from the original game. The developer has brought all of these files together in a new engine which means that some of the files are difficult to work with, resulting in bugs. Both of these projects are in very early stages but you can download a prototype of LinusPixel's prototype
here.
Both of these projects look very promising and offers fans old and new a chance to return to this twisted world, this is also a good opportunity for anyone who missed the original
P.T. after it was taken down from PlayStation Store. It remains to be seen about whether either of them will come to fruition as Konami have quickly shut down fan-made projects in the past. Both of these titles are adoring love letters to
P.T. so hopefully, they can avoid the same fate.
