Altough much of Infinity Ward's E3 Coliseum panel was centered on the single-player campaign for
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the developer did share the first two screenshots from the game's multiplayer portion.
The first image features a character in a ghillie suit, laying prone in the brush with a silenced sniper rifle. Getting a bit more in-depth about the image, which was captured in-game on Infinity Ward's new game engine, the developers highlighted the impressive technology that allows for dynamic cloth. Basically, when the ghillie suit moves, there's all sorts of secondary motion that creates a deeper sense of realism. You'll notice the character is also wearing a veil over his/her head, and as the character moves their head, so will every other part of the clothingnd suit.
The second image confirms the return of the Juggernaut suit as well as the fan-favorite Special Ops mode. For those unfamiliar, Special Ops is a single-player or co-op game mode that first appeared in Modern Wafare 2, featuring a collection of short co-op levels, sometimes based on existing campaign levels or completely unique.
"The important thing for MP is, this is a unified experience," Infinity Ward's Taylor Kurosaki explained.
"These are not modes, this is not a modal game... when you're playing Modern Warfare you're playing Modern Warfare, whether you're playing SP, MP or coop, you're playing in the same world. Spec-ops is coming back."
It's a bit unclear exactly what he means by it not be a "modal game," but we'll likely hear more specifics in the next few weeks/months.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be available on October 25, 2019 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
