The battlefield is calling one last time before STRIDEN, the fast-paced shooter from indie studio 5 Fortress, charges into Early Access. Today and tomorrow are the last days for the open beta on Steam. The open beta features a suite of major improvements, community-driven tweaks, and fresh content across both PvP and PvE modes.
Check out the official trailer for the open beta of the upcoming First Person Shooter STRIDEN below:
STRIDEN sets itself apart from other FPS games with its chaotic team-based combat, irreverent humor, and a uniquely rugged Scandinavian world where players face off not only against each other but the environment itself. Whether you're dodging enemy fire or tangling with wild Nordic creatures, STRIDEN keeps you on your toes.
The Open Beta introduces Transmit Mode, a PvP objective mode spanning three new maps where players compete for control and delivery. Also making a debut is the PvE Survival Mode, where teams work together to survive relentless waves of increasingly aggressive foes.
But the biggest changes this weekend are under the hood. Based heavily on feedback from the community’s previous playtest, the developers at 5 Fortress have overhauled nearly every aspect of the experience.
Here are some of the most notable updates for the open beta:
-
Complete Audio Overhaul: Reworked weapon sounds, foley, and mixing give a much punchier feel to the game’s gunplay.
-
Lower Time-to-Kill (TTK): Gunfights are deadlier now, ramping up the intensity and rewarding precision.
-
Mid-Game Join Improvements: Players can now pick their team and spawn point, eliminating the awkward black screen bug from prior playtests.
-
Weapon Skins & Sights: Yes, customization is in! Players can now personalize their arsenal with skins and refined weapon optics.
-
Reworked Construction Mechanics: Buildable defenses now have health and armor systems, can be destroyed by enemies, and repaired by teammates. A wider range of buildable items adds more strategic options for base defense.
-
Electron Tube Objective Overhaul: Teams now physically transport the Electron Tube across the map, making objective play more dynamic and coordinated.
Founded in 2021 and based in the icy northern town of Boden, Sweden, 5 Fortress has been crafting STRIDEN for the past two years. With overhauled mechanics, improved visuals, and a strong focus on team-based gameplay, this weekend is your last chance to play STRIDEN before its Early Access release.
