A new contender in the survival genre has just been announced. DMZ: Nuclear Survival is a multiplayer open-world survival crafting game that drops players into the radioactive aftermath of a global nuclear war. Set on the newly formed supercontinent of Pangaea, shaped by tectonic upheaval, players must build, fight, and rise from the ashes of civilization.

Check out the official annoucement trailer that gives us a sneak peek at what we can expect from the game down below:

Developed around deep strategy and sandbox freedom, DMZ: Nuclear Survival blends base-building, NPC management, and competitive combat. Players assume control of their own private military company, gathering survivors to train as soldiers and support staff in a bid to dominate this new world.

Exploration and adventure lies at the heart of DMZ. The game’s procedurally generated map is rich with varied biomes all the way from snowy wastelands to dense forests that will hide relics of ancient civilizations. Players can unearth Roman temples, Terracotta warriors, and forgotten pyramids. Using tools like shovels, explosives, and even tactical nukes, they’ll dig for resources, extract lost technologies, and awaken genetic memories to resurrect ancient warriors for their armies.

Terrain manipulation is another standout mechanic—players can build above or below ground, carving out trenches or crafting hidden fortresses and resource hubs. Captured NPCs become critical assets, taking roles as infantry, medics, farmers, or even politicians. They can be trained in gyms, outfitted with gear, and assigned to vital infrastructure such as farms, factories, and laboratories. Even animals—yes, including bears and ostriches—can be recruited and trained.

Combat in DMZ features PvE encounters and intense PvP battles. Squads of trained NPCs can accompany players in skirmishes, with orders issued in real time. The game allows for a range of skills and perks, enabling players to craft highly specialized teams to suit any tactical approach.

An economic layer also drives progression. Players accumulate wealth through raiding, production, trade, and black-market dealings. Assets are tracked and ranked globally, adding a competitive edge to survival and resource management.

DMZ: Nuclear Survival supports large-scale multiplayer for over 100 players via dedicated servers, as well as a complete offline single-player mode. The official Steam page is now live, with wishlist registration open ahead of its anticipated release.

Whether building empires underground or clashing with rival factions for dominance, DMZ promises a deep and chaotic survival experience for fans of strategic warfare. Will you be adding the game to your steam wishlist and watching out for it?
