In 2019, Piranha Games will launch
MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries (exclusively for PC), 18 years after
MechWarrior 4: Black Knight, the last story-driven
MechWarrior game.
Mercenaries was announced in 2016 as a (hopefully) triumphant return of the single-player-focused video games set in the
BattleTech universe with players working as the titular mercenaries to complete missions and contracts.
According to Piranha, the visual damage your mechs take doesn’t just stay on the battlefield either. When you get back to your dropship, you will have a chance to freely walk around on the ground and see all the damages that’s been dealt to your precious machines. Fixing your mechs won't be just about filling up a health bar between missions either, as you’ll actually be able to see the repairs progress.
IGN has shared an all-new gameplay trailer for
Mercenaries that showcases the tech that powers this next step in the
MechWarrior series' evolution. Considering that it's a PC-only title, it shouldn't be surprising that Piranha is putting a lot of effort into creating a visually mesmerizing experience that will support NVIDIA RTX cutting-edge ray tracing, shadow, and ambient occlusion technologies. Take a look:
The year is 3015. The Great Houses of the Inner Sphere have been waging bitter war for over a century. While the battlefields burn with an array of devastating weaponry, none is more formidable than the BattleMech. Skilled Mercenaries have never been in greater demand, and you aim to make your mark.
MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries will launch exclusively for PC on September 10, 2019.
