During yesterday's quarterly earnings call with investors, Blizzard Entertainment announced that they won't release any major video game in the next 12 months. The decision means that no new
World of Warcraft expansion will be released in 2019 (as
Battle for Azeroth launched in August), and it hard to say if mobile
Diablo: Immortal and
Warcraft III: Reforged count as "frontline" releases.
“
We expect materially lower financial performance this year,” Activision Blizzard president Collister “Coddy” Johnson said on the conference call. “
2018 benefited from the release of World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth, whereas we are not planning a major frontline release for 2019.”
At the time of writing, only three new Blizzard projects had been officially announced: the afomreminoted
Diablo: Immortal (coming to devices with iOS or Android),
Warcraft III: Reforged, the remastered version of
Warcraft III featuring the base game and the
The Frozen Throne expansion, and
World of Warcraft Classic, the re-release of the highly popular MMO’s original, pre-expansion version.
Warcraft III: Reforged is a stunning reimagining of the revolutionary real-time strategy game that laid the foundation for Azeroth’s most epic stories. Veterans and newcomers alike will experience these pivotal events in Azeroth’s history like never before.
Warcraft III: Reforged is coming in 2019.
