World of Warcraft Classic goes live worldwide on August 27, 2019, Blizzard has officially announced.
With this recreation of the original
World of Warcraft having a release date, Blizzard can now focus on promoting the title. While the new trailer is not directly tied to
World of Warcraft Classic, it showcases Varok Saurfang, a legendary Horde warrior and a veteran of the First, Second, and Third Wars. In this masterfully done cinematic, we see Saurfang realizing that to "
secure a future for the Horde, he must reach out to the one who led it in the past" – which involves a reunion with Thrall, Son of Durotan.
In case you're not familiar with the basic idea behind
World of Warcraft Classic, it's basically 2006's MMO in its purest form without any of its many expansion sets, allowing you to journey back to its humble beginnings, even before
Cataclysm, Wrath of the Lich King, and even
The Burning Crusade.
According to
Blizzard, Classic will be included in and available to all players with an active
World of Warcraft subscription, so you won't be forced to pay a single penny for that reimagination of
WoW.

The drums of war thunder once again… Return to a lost era of Azeroth and experience the timeless stories that defined this world at war. World of Warcraft Classic is a faithful recreation of the original World of Warcraft—it runs a bit smoother on today’s computers, but the game still looks and feels like you’re playing World of Warcraft from 2006. Combat mechanics, original character models and skill trees all contribute to a truly authentic experience, as do your interactions with other players. Your reliance on others to take on the world was at the heart of the original WoW and is at the heart of World of Warcraft Classic.
World of Warcraft Classic is coming to PC on August 27, 2019.
