Escape from Duckov is proving that parody games can still dominate the Steam charts and are in flavor, quack and all. The humorous top-down extraction shooter has surpassed well over 500,000 sales in just a few days, earning a spot among Steam's most-played games over the weekend.

Having arrived and made some noise on October 16th, the game from indie studio Team Soda is a satirical spin on Escape from Tarkov, combining PvE looter-shooter gameplay with chaotic duck-based action. Players scavenge for loot, upgrade their gear, and build hideouts all while battling hostile ducks and trying to survive the hilarity.

Despite its comedic setup, Duckov hit 182,509 concurrent players, briefly making it the 6th most-played game on Steam. It’s now the ninth indie title ever to break 100,000+ concurrent users on the platform, joining the ranks of viral sensations like Vampire Survivors and Among Us.

"At this moment, the entire dev team is quacking with joy and flapping our wings in excitement!" Team Soda said after the sales milestone. They later tweeted this:

The developers celebrated with giveaways, community shoutouts, and Steam key promotions. Fans responded with overwhelming positivity, helping Duckov reach the highly-coveted "Overwhelmingly Positive" review rating on Steam. They left a heartfelt message for their players:

Players are praising the game’s mix of replayable combat, humorous tone, and surprising polish. As a top-down alternative to gritty extraction shooters, it offers a lighthearted, accessible entry into the genre. Procedurally generated maps, loot-based progression, and hideout customization ensure replay value beyond the novelty.

With Escape from Tarkov officially arriving on Steam November 15th, it remains to be seen whether the original can surpass its duck-filled parody in momentum. For now, Duckov is leading the flock.

Escape from Duckov is currently available on Steam for $15.83 (12% off) for its launch window. The price will increase to $17.99 after the discount period ends for this single-player top-down PvE extraction shooter.

The Escape From Duckov launch trailer shows gameplay as adorable ducks duke it out. Loot, escape, build, and eventually become a mighty bird soldier. Beware! If you are knocked down, items in your inventory will be lost! But don't worry. With your infrastructure built nicely, you will rise again soon.
