Over the weekend at ExileCon, Grinding Gear Games announced
Path of Exile 2, a seven-act storyline that introduces numerous game improvements, new classes and more. The
The tagline,
"one game, two campaigns," perfectly sums up the design philosophy behind
Path of Exile 2, which will be available alongside the original
Path of Exile 1 campaign.
"Both the old and new storyline lead to the same shared atlast endgame," Grinding Gear Games describes.
"Path of Exile 2 retains all expansion content that has been created over the last six years and introduces a new skill system, ascendancy classes, engine improvements and more."
Since the death of Kitava, society has been slowly rebuilding. Ambitious men rise to fill the void and their thirst for power is once again corrupting Wraeclast.
Path of Exile 2 will feature 19 new Ascendancy Classes as well as the "nex generation" of the game's skill system. The biggest and most-welcomed difference is that items will no longer have sockets. Instead, the skill gems will have sockets, allowing players to maintain their skills while upgrading gear. Other quality of life improvements have also been made, from gameplay to graphics.
Path of Exile 2 does not yet have a release date. A beta for the game probably won't arrive until at least "very late" 2020. In the meantime, new
Path of Exile expansions will continue to be released which will also be available in Path of Exile 2 when it does launch.
