Warcraft Forever Night Elf Hunter Level 1-20 Beta Speed Leveling Guide: Quest Route, Professions, And More

Warcraft Forever Night Elf Hunter Level 1-20 Beta Speed Leveling Guide: Quest Route, Professions, And More

Here is my 1-20 Night Elf Hunter route for the Warcraft Forever beta. There are new Night Elf racials, hunter changes, quest skips, shop buys, and more within the guide.

The World Of Warcraft Forever beta opens September 17, 2026 with a level 20 cap. Blizzard has said that cap moves to 30 after a couple of weeks. This progress also does not carry to the November 4 launch. Which is exactly why I am creating this guide, so that I can get a few rough first goes at it and fine tune it into something amazing. This is the route I will be personally using when the beta launches, however I do plan on updating it and revising things that have either been outdated, inefficient, or simply do not exist anymore for some reason. A Night Elf Hunter still looks like the right Alliance pick for me at the moment. However I am excited to experiment with human hunters later on in the beta.

As a bit of a warning/authors note. This is my first time writing a guide for World Of Warcraft leveling, however many of my friends call me the grinder and I do like to think I can level decently fast. There are a few other things to take into consideration with this guide. A lot of things could change for the speed leveling game that we do not know about, there is also a new race and zones and even dungeons for the early levels. Blizzard has confirmed there are new quests, NPCs and more as well so those things can make a big impact in the future. With all of that being said, lets dive in!

What Warcraft Forever Changes for the Night Elf race

Every race now has two actives and two passives. Nature Resistance is gone. Night Elves picked up a real damage button and a small permanent move-speed bump.

Elune's Light (active): 10% crit chance for 15 seconds. This is the new one. Pop it on every named you actually fight, on Multi-Shot packs once you have the pet stable, and on the last few bars of a grind gate. It is a short window. Do not sit on it for a "better pull."

Shadowmeld (active): stealth while you stand still. Cancels when you move. Forever text also restores threat on enemies still in combat when the effect ends. That last line matters. Meld to drop a bad add, drink, or reset line of sight. Do not meld and then cancel in the middle of a pack unless you want the threat back. Feign Death first when you have it. Meld is the second layer, or the pre-10 panic button.

Quickness (passive): 1% dodge and 2% run speed. Classic Quickness was dodge only. Two percent move speed is up before Aspect of the Cheetah (level 20) and stacks with it after. Teldrassil and Darkshore are run-heavy zones. This is free speed.

Wisp Spirit (passive): 75% ghost speed, up from 50%. Launch deaths happen. The corpse run is shorter. Still do not die on purpose unless for a death skip.

Human Hunters exist in Forever now. Dwarf Hunters still have Big Game Hunter (5% damage to Beasts) from the racial pass. Night Elf answers with Elune's Light, Quickness, and Shadowmeld. For a 1-20 quest and grind route, the move speed and the on-use crit beat a beast-damage passive that only hits some of your targets.

Hunter kit in Warcraft Forever

BlizzCon coverage and demo captures point to a few class changes that hit this bracket. However there is  still many things we do not know. There is a rumor that we might get Aspect Of The Cheetah earlier since you can add talent points to increase it's speed earlier now, Survival also has some pretty good changes however for solo leveling I do not think it will be better than the old tried and true.

Aimed Shot is baseline instead of a Marksmanship talent unlock. Aimed Shot and Multi-Shot sharing a cooldown is the version to play around if that rule is in the beta client. If they share a CD, Multi-Shot is the 18-20 camp tool and Aimed Shot is the single-target button. Do not weave both on one pull.

Traps can be used in combat. That is a real leveling change. Drop Freezing Trap while the pet already has a mob, or use it to peel a second pull instead of backing to a clear patch first.

Improved Aspect of the Hawk is gone from the tree in current talent captures. However the new one is a combination and probably just as good if not better. Personally I will be putting the early points into pet durability and pet damage: Endurance Training, Thick Hide, Improved Revive Pet, Bestial Swiftness, Unleashed Fury. You only have 11 talent points at 20.

Forever also adds a new major talent node at 16 points. That node is after the first beta cap. Ignore it until the level 30 wave.

Camping is a new world feature. A campfire can rest you, place a vendor and repair, and give a sit buff. On a packed launch that is a bag and repair stop that does not require a run back to Dolanaar or Auberdine. Use it when the nearest town is a queue.

Hall of Thanes is a new Alliance-leaning dungeon listed around 13-18. Skip it on a solo speed route unless a group is already formed at the stone and the lock is instant. Open-world hunter XP still wins if you wait five minutes for a tank.

The 1-20 Basics

As a general rule of thumb, try to always be in combat and killing things. ABK = Always Be Killing! Kills = exp which equals to levels and one step closer to your goal! Hunters excel at pulling and dealing with multiple or larger mobs compared to some classes.

For talents you will want to go with Beast Mastery and things that make your pet tougher. So that your pet holds the mob while you shoot and drink or heal up if needed between pulls.

Rotation before 10: Hunter's Mark, Auto Shot, step back, Serpent Sting. Stay out of the 8-yard dead zone. After 10: send pet in with Growl on, Mark, sting, Auto Shot. Arcane Shot only when mana is healthy. Multi-Shot after 18 once the pet has threat. Use Elune's Light on cooldown as its a nice damage steroid to improve speed.

Aspect of the Cheetah comes at 20, which is also the cap. Train it the moment you ding. Quickness already covers the running before that.

Train only what you fire: Serpent Sting, Arcane Shot, Mark, Concussive, Wing Clip, Mend Pet, Revive Pet, Feed Pet, Tame Beast, Aspects, Track Beasts, Multi-Shot at 18, Cheetah at 20. Skip extra melee ranks.

Pets

Ding 10 and do your hunter pet taming quest right away. Visit Ayanna in Dolanaar: tame the Webwood Lurker, Nightsaber Stalker, Strigid Screecher. Head to Darnassus: Training the Beast with Jocaste. Train Growl. Feed meat. Keep the pet Happy.

A Moonstalker Runt outside Auberdine is pet that I will be grabbing until I can get a bird with screech to reduce attack power of enemies.

Bows and ammo

Hornwood Recurve as soon as you have a few silver. Laminated Recurve at 11 (about 18 silver). Reinforced Bow around 16 (about 38 silver). Stay on bows for your weapon the entire time.

Rough Arrows, then Sharp at 10. Two stacks in the quiver, if not more when you have some extra coins. Medium Quiver at 10. That quiver is haste and bag space.

Professions and Bags

Skinning and whatever secondary you would like, personally I will be picking enchanting. First Aid. No Cooking or Fishing on beta night one. Once you hit level 20 you can do cooking and fishing if you would like.

Teldrassil doesn't have a lot of things to skin so you don't need to rush getting it till you leave to Darkshore. Darkshore is where leather shows up. Enchanting is Disenchant only. Train it in Darnassus when you walk by it. No need for Copper Rod. No crafts. DE greens that are not Agility leather or a bow upgrade.

Keep: Skinning Knife, bow, quiver, arrows, pet meat, bandages, Hearthstone. Vendor greys every town stop before you accept more quests. You can vendor the leather or mail it to a bank alt to put up in the Auction House or save for future professions, up to you really.

Buy list

Shadowglen: Rough Arrows from Keina. Hornwood Recurve if you have about 3 silver.

First Dolanaar visit: Skinning Knife (about 86 copper). Train Skinning at the hut west on the Darnassus road. Train First Aid. Small Brown Pouch (5 silver) as soon as you can. Arrows to 200.

Darnassus at 10-12: Enchanting. Medium Quiver. Laminated Recurve. Second 6-slot pouch. Pet meat. Bank extra leather.

Auberdine: Sharp Arrows. Pet meat. 8-slot satchel if you have 25 silver. Bandages. DE.

Menethil or Darnassus at 16: Reinforced Bow.

LeveL 20: get yourself some Heavy Brown Bags (2 gold) only if the gold is already there and you are saving up for the level 30 increase. You do not need a 10-slot to hit 20.

Launch Night Rules

Skip a step if more than one person is sitting on the spawn. Grind the same level mobs.

Hard skips: Named quest mobs if there is a lot of people around, caves, too long of walks.

Quickness makes the Darkshore north-south runs a smidge faster than they were in Classic.

1-6 Shadowglen

  1. Conservator Ilthalaine: The Balance of Nature. Kill 7 Young Nightsabers and 4 Young Thistle Boars.
  2. Grind those two mobs until you ding 2 if the first pass fell short. Turn in. Accept Balance part 2 and Etched Sigil. Melithar: The Woodland Protector.
  3. North: A Good Friend. Kill 7 Mangy Nightsabers and 7 Thistle Boars on the way to Iverron.
  4. Grind those same mobs until you are 610 XP from level 4 (bar reads 790 / 1400). Then talk to Iverron.
  5. Turn in, accept A Friend in Need, hearth to Shadowglen.
  6. Tarindrella, then Ilthalaine. Ramp to Ayanna. Train Serpent Sting. Buy arrows.
  7. Dirania antidote: Moonpetal Lilies, Webwood Ichor, Hyacinth Mushrooms. Gilshalan: Webwood Venom. Grellkin: Fel Moss.
  8. Skip Webwood Egg if the cave is a pile. Grind spiders outside until you are 5 plus a bubble, then turn in Venom.
  9. If the cave is empty, take the egg and run the antidote north.
  10. Leave Shadowglen at 6, or 5 with a full bar. Take Dolanaar Delivery if it is up.
  11. Wisp Spirit makes a Shadowglen death cheaper than it used to be. Still skin the cats on the way out.

6-11 Teldrassil

  1. Zenn Foulhoof: Zenn's Bidding. Do not farm it right off the bat, just kill mobs on the way to other quests and you should get this one done.
  2. Dolanaar: hearth, knife, Skinning, First Aid, first bag, arrows.
  3. Accept Denalan's Earth, A Troubling Breeze, The Emerald Dreamcatcher. Skip Relics and Twisted Hatred.
  4. Starbreeze: Dreamcatcher in the dresser, Gnarlpine Corruption in the village. Skip Ferocitas if he is camped.
  5. Lake: Seeds and Sprouts. Finish Zenn while you move. Skin every cat.
  6. Before Zenn turn-in, sit at 7 or at 6 with about 2350 / 4500. Grind nightsabers between the lake and the road if you are short.
  7. Zenn turn-in. Seek Redemption: three fel cones north and west of town.
  8. Skip Ferocitas and Lord Melenas. Grind Gnarlpine outside Starbreeze or cats west of town until you are 8 and half a bar.
  9. Crown of the Earth only if the wells sit on your path.
  10. Ding 10 and tame immediately. Lurker northeast, nightsaber south, screecher west. Dismiss between tames.
  11. Darnassus: Training the Beast, Growl, Enchanting, Medium Quiver, Laminated Recurve, pet meat.
  12. Nessa Shadowsong, flight to Auberdine. Do not enter Darkshore below 11.

11-16 Darkshore

  1. Jump off the boat and swim in. Flight path and hearth.
  2. Accept Washed Ashore, Buzzbox 827, How Big a Threat?, Plagued Lands, Bashal'Aran, Tools of the Highborne. Skip Anaya, Murkdeep, mushrooms, den mother, fishing.
  3. South beach: Washed Ashore corpse and crabs for 827. Touch the first furbolg camp for Threat credit.
  4. Turn in 827 on the beach box. Accept Buzzbox 411. Town turn-ins. Accept Washed Ashore 2.
  5. If those turn-ins did not ding 12, grind crabs and murlocs until 12.
  6. North beach: Washed Ashore 2, turtles you walk over, threshers for 411. Quickness makes this loop shorter than Classic.
  7. Turn in 411. Accept Buzzbox 323.
  8. Bashal'Aran full chain. Ameth'Aran tablets and Highborne for Tools. Skip Anaya. If Bashal'Aran is contested, grind Highborne until Tools is done and you are 13.
  9. Bears for 323 and Plagued Lands. Moonstalkers if you already have the pelt quest. Elune's Light on tight packs.
  10. If the log is empty of easy work, grind moonstalkers east of Auberdine until 14. Do not boat to Westfall.
  11. Town turn-ins. Repair, arrows, meat, DE. Train 14. Buy Reinforced Bow if Laminated is still on you. Plant a camp if the town vendor line is worse than the walk.

16-20 Darkshore and Ashenvale

  1. On-path work only. Skip mushroom cave, den mother, prospector escort, Murkdeep, and the Sleeper escort if it is too packed.
  2. Grind moonstalkers and grizzled bears southeast of Auberdine, or Blackwood edges, until 18. Train Multi-Shot. Traps in combat if the client allows it. Pet on the first mob, trap the add.
  3. South road toward Ashenvale. Grove of the Ancients turn-in if you still have it. Skip One Shot. One Kill. if waves are already wiping.
  4. Maestra's Post flight path. Bathran's Hair and early Tower of Althalaxx only if those stages are trash packs.
  5. Grind Bathran orcs or Darkshore moonstalkers until you ding 20 in this corner. That is the cap. Train Cheetah and log the character if you are done, or park and farm gold for the level 30 wave.
  6. Astranaar is optional. Take the flight path if the run is clean. Do not start the long Raene or Zoram chain during a 20 cap.
  7. Hall of Thanes (13-18) is a side option after 16 if a group is instant. Otherwise stay in moonstalkers.

I am very excited to get into the game and give it a test drive. Hopefully most of if not all of my guide is still relevant and efficient, however if it is not, there will plenty of time for me to update it and get you guys something good. Another nice thing is that Night Elfs will enjoy the update with Forever's 2% run speed and a 15-second crit window folded into the pulls. Let me know if you would like more guides or guides for other races / classes!

Did you find this guide helpful, useful or interesting? Is there some hidden tech or things that I am missing that I should add to it? Please give me your feedback in the comments below!
