World of Warcraft: Forever is stuffing the profession window to the brim. During the Deep Dive panel, Blizzard said there are more than 600 new recipes across every trade and every level range. Existing recipes are getting overhauls too. The line from the stage was that you should feel your profession at low level, not only when you hit 300.
Senior Game Designer Josh Greenfield, better known as Aggrend, walked the system and explained it to fans. Cooking and Blacksmithing were the examples on the slide, but this should apply to every profession.
Food is the change you will notice first. Almost every crafted meal now gives some kind of stat boost. A Well Fed buff also adds a small experience bonus from kills. The panel joke was that you will always want a food buff active. Forum replies already pointed at cheap low-level snacks being used all the way to 60. Blizzard did not publish a level gate on that XP bite.
Camping is the other half. Your cooking fire becomes a camp. Place it and you get a site. Up to three basic objects can sit there, one per person. Blacksmiths drop a sharpening wheel for Strength. Tailors plant a banner for Spirit. Herbalists set incense for Intellect. Those camp buffs are treated like class buffs. They do not stack with Blessing of Might or Arcane Intellect. First objects unlock at 20 skill points. Better pieces come from blueprint recipes you find out in the world.
First Aid already showed that kit on the BlizzCon floor. Warcraft Tavern's demo notes had a First Aid Kit built from linen bandages and spring water that grants a Fortitude-style buff. New curatives cover bleeds and diseases. Healing potions showed up in the First Aid window. Bandages still exist. Some of them feed the camping recipes.
Profession identity is getting passive perks on top of the recipe dump. Community transcriptions from the show footage list Mixology and an upgradable Philosopher's Stone for Alchemy, Repair All and belt buckles for Blacksmithing, ring enchants and shard transmutes for Enchanting, extra gadgets for Engineering, embroidery and cloth scavenging for Tailoring. Treat those tooltips as BlizzCon footage until the beta client is datamined. The shape matches what Aggrend said on stage: the trade should matter while you level, not only at the cap.
That matters because Warcraft Forever stays at 60. There is no Outland dump of new ore. Horizontal growth has to come from recipes, camps, and materials inside Azeroth. The team said it plans to keep adding recipes, mats, and crafted items as the game moves. Spring and summer 2027 already list profession and legacy updates on the public roadmap.
Beta will not let you cook your way to 60. Thursday's test opens at level 20, then rises to 30 after a couple of weeks. Characters do not transfer to November 4. A 20 cap is still enough to hit the first camp objects, the first new meals, and the early First Aid kits. Zephras Isle and the 13-20 dungeons are the likely kitchen.
Launch is November 4. Raids wait until December 9. Hardcore comes later. Professions are one of the systems meant to fill that gap between "I dinged 60" and "the next raid door opened."
Vanilla cooking was often a check box. Make Westfall Stew, eat, forget. Forever is trying to make the fire a grouping tool. Three people, three objects, shared buffs, then you walk to the next node. If that works, professions stop being an auction-house side job. If the camp is just another world buff to stack and argue about, the 600-recipe number will not save it.
Aggrend's clip ended in Elwynn and Durotar, with people sitting around a fire before a pull. That is the picture they want testers to chase on September 17.
