Wargaming, a Belarusian multinational game studio responsible for the
World of War series (than includes
Tanks, Warplanes, and
Warships) has announced
Pagan Online, an action hack and slash role-playing video game co-developed by Wargaming.net and Mad Head Games that's set in a fantasy universe inspired by pre-Christian mythology, giving players a chance to explore it alone or in co-op.
In a recent interview with Venture Beat, Director Jacob Beucler explained that Wargamming is “
interested in high-quality games built with passion and dedication that can be delivered to a global audience. In the past year-and-a-half, we’ve evaluated more than 100 different games, and this team and this product ticks those boxes more than anything else we’ve seen,” he said. “
We believe that the PC [action-RPG] audience is hungry for something new and that Pagan Online will deliver that.”
Pagan is set in a demonic dystopia world, which features hack and slash gameplay that's similar to the
Diablo series, and takes place in a pre-biblical time period. The fact that Blizzard still hasn’t convinced players that mobile gaming is the future gives other developers a window of opportunity to promote new brands that would have been normally overshadowed by a proper
Diablo III sequel. Take a look:
