Fans of the original Atelier Ryza game, Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout, have, without a doubt, been looking forward to the release of the next game in the series, Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & The Secret Fairy. The series typically offers a fun story that features unique characters and vibrant colors and costumes.
The second game in the series has been planning for some time now for its release on the PS4, PS5, Switch, and PC and has released trailers and looks for the new mystery/ adventure title. However, fans who love to collect physical copies of games may find themselves a bit disappointed at the status of this particular title.
According to the developers, the game, while still releasing on the PS5 and available for an upgrade from the PS4, has been forced to cancel its physical release and focus entirely on digital. There was no specific reason for this decision, and thankfully it doesn't compromise gameplay quality in any way.
There has been no word on if a physical version will release at a later date; however, for now, it is best to expect the digital version to be the way to go for the PS5. We would love to hear your thoughts n the announcement in the comments below!
In the story, Ryza travels to the Royal Capital of Ashra-am Baird and explores ancient ruins to uncover the mystery of lost legends. She can learn new skills such as the ability to swim. Throughout her journey, Ryza will once again be joined by her fun-loving group of mischievous friends. The first of these old companions confirmed for Ryza 2 is Klaudia. The only daughter of a merchant family, Klaudia has been working in the Royal Capital, but all the while, thinking back to the adventure she had with Ryza three years prior. Klaudia still has the desire to live a more exciting life, and now finds her fate once again intertwined with Ryza as they regroup inside the Royal Capital. Also joining Ryza this time around is a mysterious creature known as Fi. The creature doesn't speak, but is very expressive and full of emotion, bonding quickly with Ryza while helping her seek answers to the true meaning of the lost legends.
Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & The Secret Fairy will launch in Japan for the PS4, PS5, and Switch on December 3rd while the North American release on the same consoles and PC (worldwide) will be on January 26th with the PC release in Europe being on January 29th.
