Dreams is a new game that took Media Molecule, the developers of
LittleBigPlanet and
Tearaway, a decade to make. It's a toolbox or a game engine in and of itself that allows players to create, sculpt, and craft their own games, experiences, art, music, and so on. It's so extensive that somebody was essentially able to make
Fallout 4 entirely within Dreams —
check that out here.
Dreams is exclusive to the PlayStation 4 at the moment. However, an insider suggested that the game maker could very well make its way over to the PC —
you can check out that report here. VideoGamesChronicle recently got the opportunity to interview Media Molecule co-founder and
Dreams creative director Mark Healey.
The site asked of the chances that
Dreams will come to the upcoming PlayStation 5 —
find out more about Sony's next-generation console here. Healey said that he would prefer Dreams to reside on the PlayStation 4 for a while and even possibly extend the current-generation's life-span. However, porting
Dreams to the PlayStation 5 would be
"an obvious progression."
"Obviously at the moment we’re focused on PS4 and I would actually hope that it extends the life of the PS4 to be honest with you, then maybe when other companies start making games for it, the community will carry on making games for it, but if it’s as successful as we hope it is then it’s an obvious progression," said the creative director.
“You know, it’s a platform, so ideally in the future we’ll migrate to whatever is relevant. That’s probably about as much as I can say without getting smacked by someone," Healey joked.
The site then asked Healey about the possibility of
Dreams coming to the PC — per those reports we mentioned above. The co-founder of Media Molecule said that he would love to see that happen but it isn't currently in the works.
“I think that would be cool. I mean obviously Sony have an opinion about that but yeah, I think, I don’t know where it’s going to go in the future, I mean it would be great to see that," said Healey.
"That’s not something that’s happening right now but I think a lot of that depends on where the games industry goes in general, I suppose.”
Healey noted that Sony might be opposed to
Dreams coming to PC but then likely remembered that
Death Stranding will getting a PC port in 2020 and there have been reports from reputable sources that
Horizon Zero Dawn will be joining it —
more on that here. “I mean I think Sony have become more open recently to publishing stuff on the PC in general anyway, haven’t they? Isn’t there some stuff that’s happening, I’m not sure?"
