Earth Defense Force 5 is a third-person shooter developed by Sandlot and published by D3 Publisher. It is the fifth main installment in the Earth Defense Force series and was originally released in Japan for the PlayStation 4 on December of 2017. The game has now been confirmed to make its debut outside of Japan and will be available for the PlayStation 4 this Summer.

Like the rest of the series, Earth Defense Force 5 will see players engaging in brutal battles against aliens, giant monsters and killer machines that have invaded the Earth. Players can choose among four different types of soldier classes: Ranger, Wing Diver, Air Rider, and Fencer.

Earth Defense Force 5 features a Single Player campaign with over 100 missions provided with nearly 1,000 types of weapons to choose from. All missions can also be played on Multiplayer, which allows up to four players to team up to fight the aliens. The game also features offline split-screen co-op for players to get together and team up in classic couch co-op gaming.
