When God of War returned on the Playstation 4, it introduced a different Kratos, a much more reserved father desperate to leave his past behind him. Starting a family again, he and his son Atreus are tasked with the somber journey of delivering their mother and wife's ashes to her final resting place.

While the reinvigorated franchise updated the combat gameplay and did away with the hack and slash style, it also injected the overall story with heart. It also showed a new side to Kratos that fans of the series had not seen during his time in Greece.

With a new setting and new gods, this time of Norse mythology, the most recent game is now considered one of the best games of this console generation. However, its cliffhanger ending had fans begging for more because they knew what was coming.

With the PS5 Showcase underway, director Cory Barlog and Sony Santa Monica have something to say; Ragnarok is coming. With a new teaser confirmation (and an ominous voice-over by Kratos), God of War 5 is officially confirmed for the PS5!

While there is no official release date confirmed, expect the title to release sometime next year. Make sure to check out the new teaser, and don't forget to share your thoughts in the usual spot!

The sequel to God of War will arrive in 2021!
