During Sony's special PlayStation 5 presentation back in September of this year, Santa Monica Studio took the opportunity to get God of War fans excited, by announcing that they were working on a brand-new entry in the now-reinvented hack and slash series.
God of War: Ragnarök was revealed to be a direct sequel to 2018's critically acclaimed God of War, but other than the teaser trailer that gave us a look at the game's logo, not much else is know about this mysterious new title.
What we do know, however, is that God of War: Ragnarök is expected to launch at some point in 2021, and that it was originally revealed to be a PlayStation 5 title, which makes all the sense in the world considering that Sony's next-gen console has already launched this past week.
In a recent interview with The Telegraph, PlayStation Chief Executive Officer Jim Ryan has also played coy when specifically asked about God of War: Ragnarök, and whether the game will be a PlayStation 5 exclusive, or if it will also be released on PlayStation 4, simply saying "Sorry. I've got nothing to say about that today".
Santa Monica Studio has confirmed that God of War will be one of the PlayStation 4 titles that will be enhanced on PlayStation 5, but they haven't really mentioned whether their upcoming title is also being developed for the PlayStation 4.
MARVEL's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Sackboy: A Big Adventure, and Horizon Forbidden West are some of the games that are confirmed to release on both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
There are other titles like Insomniac Games' upcoming Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart that have been confirmed to be PlayStation 5 exclusives, so there's no knowing whether Santa Monica Studio's God of War: Ragnarök will also be released on PlayStation 4, but there's still hope.
God of War: Ragnarök is expected to release for the PlayStation 5 in 2021.
